Jennifer Aniston embodies yet another reincarnation of the FRIENDS character that made her famous in RUMOR HAS IT ... Or was it her hair that propelled her to stardom? ... There I go, spreading rumours ...

Sarah Huttinger (Aniston) is at an impasse in her life. She cannot bring herself to openly admit she is engaged to her perfect boyfriend Jeff (Mark Ruffalo). It all comes out during their awkward attempt at joining the Mile High Club when it is revealed that Sarah never knew her mother, nor does she have anything in common with her family. This sets her on a path to find out more about her mother during her sister's (Mena Suavari) wedding. When grandmother Caroline (Shirly Maclaine) unwittingly spills enough beans to raise several of Sarah's red flags, she goes in search of Beau Burroughs (Kevin Costner) for the possible connection to her family and the apparent inspiration for the book/film "The Graduate".

The movie is less about the 'rumour' as it is ... or rather should be ... about Sarah finding herself. Ultimately and unfortunately, the rumour overshadows Sarah's internal struggle making the film's selling point also its weakest link. But, that doesn't mean you won't have a good time watching the inevitable events as they unfold.

Performances are consistent throughout. The charismatic Shirley Maclaine brings a welcomed edge to her rather bland surroundings while Kevin Costner plays a sensitive brood with too much time and toys on his hands.

I laughed and almost cried as I was moderately entertained for the hour and a half. Though what could've been a strong dramatic comedy ended up just being a lot of talk feeding in the rumour mill.
