Toronto store that supports local makers is closing

A Toronto store that sells goodies from local and international artisans is closing down.

Since 2020, The Found General has been a go-to stop for shoppers seeking handmade, one-of-a-kind and sustainably crafted gifts and goods.

Located in the heart of Oakwood Village, the shop specialized in homegoods, art, apparel and accessories by local vendors and international artisans alike, alongside fresh flowers and potted plants.

According to a recent post to the business' social media accounts, after four years in the community The Found General is getting ready to say goodbye — but they're not going away completely.

"It's not goodbye, it's see you later," proclaims the post, which announces The Found General's brick-and-mortar store will be closing its doors for good on July 31.

The retailer won't be going too far, though.

"The Found General will continue online, evolving into something new that stays true to our mission of supporting artists and artisans," reads the post's caption.

While you'll still be able to shop The Found General through their online store, there's a little extra incentive to head into the store before it's too late.

Anyone who stops by the shop before the closure is in for an extra treat — there's a liquidation sale going on from now until the end of the month where shoppers can get score 40 per cent off all non-commissioned merchandise.

The Found General is located at 376 Oakwood Avenue.
