Stylish handbags arrive in Toronto

The recently launched online bag boutique A to Zane materialized in real life this week in pop-up shop form at local shoe heaven Chasse Gardee, where it will sell its purses to local peeps in person through the end of today.

A to Zane

Founder Zane Aburaneh, a former handbag specialist at Holt Renfrew, visited trade shows in London, New York, Milan, Paris and Toronto to find a few hard-to-find lines (and threw in local label, Hoi Bo, too: one of my favourite purse designers working).

While Aburaneh is selling bags from Parisians Tila March (an exclusive in Canada, and a Colette favourite) and Great by Sandie, Brit brand Modalu, and Toronto's Hoi Bo, all of them have something in common. "Minimalist, the quality, and unique," says the online shopkeep with a smile, when asked what three words he would choose for his armfuls of lovely leather.

He's looking forward to seeing his wares on a wide variety of Toronto women, as, he says, there's something for everyone in his e-store (and, for a few more hours, at the pop-up shop!). "Daytime or night-time, these bags can go with a dress or jeans and a t-shirt," he says. "It's all about how you put it together."

Here are some photos from the pop-up shop launch party earlier this week:
