This week In The District, I visited Butterfield 8 on the Danforth. If you are thinking the name sounds familiar, you have probably seen the 1960's movie starring Elizabeth Taylor. And yes, that is exactly what the store has been named after.

Butterfield 8 has an adorable aesthetic with chocolate brown and pink walls. I felt like a five year old in a candy store. There were accessories as far as the eye could see. Whether you are looking for the perfect handbag, beach bag, designer candles, subway buttons, shot glasses, playful jewelry or other kitsch collectables, this store has it.

Owner Shelley Town makes you feel very welcome and gives it the store next door kind of feeling. What I found amazing is that approximately 1/3 of their merchandise is Canadian designed. Shelly believes that, "it is very important to support local designers." That is why when you visit Butterfield 8 you will find Canadian fashion finds by Barbie's Basement Jewelry, Foxy Originals, Melissa Beth Designs, Matt and Nat and many more Canadian designers.
